You have taken the first step to an amazing Postpartum experience.

The first few months with a new baby are an extra-ordinary period of transition in the life of parents. The needs of newborn babies are simple but fairly constant around the clock. Adjustment during this period is greatly assisted by having others around you to share the load. If you do not have family close by who can provide support on a daily basis in the first 6 weeks or so, then a Postpartum Doula is a great solution.

In the early weeks rest whenever you can give yourself time to get to know your baby.

It helps to know where and how to get support in the first weeks with your baby.
A midwife or child and family health nurse will usually visit you at home.

For breastfeeding problems a lactation consultant
Many birthing mothers get the ‘baby blues’ a few days after giving birth. If they don’t go away, seek help
